Representatives of 33 from 43 national federations, that took part in voting, gave their voices pro Janda. Four voting-papers were recognized void; six voices were given contra. Janda was the only contender for the EFC Presidency.
According to the majority of the Heads of the national fencing federations of Europe, interrogated by us, such essential prevalence of voices pro Janda over voices contra is the result of his long work in different international fencing bodies. Through these years Czech proved as an active worker and strong professional; also his candidature had been openly supported by Alisher Usmanov, the FIE President. Mr. Usmanov is realizing now the ambitious program of Confederations' development and is counting on the help of Janda in this business.
The new structure of the EFC Executive Committee has also been selected on the Congress. For nine places applied 20 candidates, put forward by 19 European national fencing federations. Finally COMEX will consist of: Stanislav Pozdniakov (Russia), Nicolay Mateev (Iceland), Giuseppe Cafiero (Italy), Krisztián Kulcsár (Hungary), Marja-Liisa Someroja (Finland), Max W.F. Geuter (Germany), Jacek Bierkowski (Poland), Pierre Thullberg (Sweden) and Octavian Zidaru (Romania).
Thus, COMEX was updated for almost 80 per cent. Only Max Geuter, who was carrying out a duty of the Secretary General earlier, and Oсtavian Zidaru remain from the old structure.
