66 medals were played during this competition – 18 golden, 18 silver and 30 bronze. And 52 of them were taken by the Europeans: 14 golden, 14 silver and 24 bronze.

The best result showed Italian squad – 16 medals (4 golden, 5 silver and 7 bronze). But in the number of gold Russia passed ahead of Italians – its fencers got 5 golden medals and 6 bronze. Besides Russia and Italy, the awards would take home fencers from Hungary, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Sweden, Spain and France.

Among non-European countries the best was USA team with 11 medals - 3 golden, 3 silver and 5 bronze. Chinese fencers won 1 gold and 1 bronze, South Korea athletes – 1 silver medal.
